BIOGRAPHY

I initiate and co-produce creative place-based projects, embedding co-design and participation at the heart of my practice.

Based in the Peak District, I collaborate to create best practice when testing new methodologies and reflecting on the process. I introduce an extensive network of creative practitioners, community groups, policy makers and local organisations to makers, artists and students and continues to champion creative approaches to make positive, sustainable change in society. I'm is an expert in creative methodologies to create and implement strategies and sustainable ‘place-shaking’ projects.

As a director, producer, creative practitioner and researcher, I regularly collaborate with governments, makers, communities and students to co-produce sustainable place-making initiatives and lead on policy and strategy. My recent projects include this place [of mine], a virtual playground commissioned by the Greater Manchester Great Place scheme; the establishment and direction of Glossop Creates for Glossop Creative Trust; Outside the Box: Public Art in Qatar conference on behalf of FutureEverything for British Council Qatar; and community engagement for Crewe's place brand with HemingwayDesign.

I'm a Trustee of Lancashire-based arts charity, Mid Pennine Arts and co-founded the National Festival of Making and the Urban Rooms Network. I hold a Masters degree from Leeds University-Henry Moore Institute and I am a Fellow of the Institute of Place Management.
PHD BY PRACTICE

I'm currently undertaking a PhD by Practice at Sheffield School of Architecture, due to complete in 2023. My research explores the role of the "maker" in placemaking, with a particular focus on how decisions are made in the future of places.
